Possibly the earliest painting of a banjo player (3 strings plus a drone), from the 1700s in South Carolina. Painted by Anonymous, who also occasionally posts comments on this blog. It resides in the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Center in Williamsburg, Virgina. I suppose I could be calling this site the Banjo Banj
