Classic hyperlink style entry: Nice piece in Plunkthumping this morning about inexpensive banjos. Reminds me of something Pete Seeger once said. The banjo has no Stradivarius, despite what the Gibsons might say. There is no proper sound of banjo greatness. You mine (or pluck) each instrument for its own distinctive voice.
Also this morning, Celestial Monochord writes with the very good news that Pete's half-brother Mike Seeger has released some of his field recordings, rather than just spot-on imitations of them. And just below this essay is a piece on salt.
